Nigtmare Grounds AI Characters

I have developed 23 AI Variants for this project, with 16 different and Unique behaviour patterns Crawler


  • Crawling characters

  • Has Short Navigation capsule , means it can navigate through narrow and open surfaces. (eg: under the broken walls where only short AI agents can navigate)

  • Tentacle attack - Launches tentacles and drags player towards itself

  • Melee Attacks on close range

    Crawler Egg :

    • Holds one cocooned Crawler

    • Gives birth at triggers such as loud noise, gunshots or damage

"Crawler Egg" gives birth to "crawler" , they can be found in caves and creature nests - crawler is a short navigation character and can go through narrow spaces

Sleeping Flower


  • Carnivorous plant

  • Launches Tentacles at proximity hostiles (can launch 2 tentacle at 2 directions at once)

  • Drags the targets towards itself

  • Applies Spike damage on trapped Characters


"the Sleeping flower" can drag its victim towards itself

The TrapWings


  • Flying character with active tentacles

  • Flies to the player and traps them with the tentacles

  • Flying pawns use 3D navigation pathfinding system in Unreal

    "Trapwings" can catch the player and carry its victim around

    Night Hunter


  • Only Spawns at nights (unique creature, only comes out at nightfall)

  • Continuously chases player (if player is outside the safe house)

  • Heavy sanity attack (screams at player)

  • Can get repelled by the safe zones or active UV lights


    "Night hunter" is a single and Unique character & only spawns at nightfall

    RipTide


  • Swimming AI character

  • Only can be found in lakes and body waters (Roams in water)

  • Applies heavy melee attack by attaching itself to the player's head and drowning him.

  • Player needs to perfom a Quick time Event (QTE) to get rid of riptide

    "Riptide" can attach itself to player - Player needs to do a QTE

    Butcher

  • Axe wielding character

  • Has 2 variants

  • Close range Heavy Melee attacks

  • Long range spear throw attacks

    Butcher Has heavy Melee Attacks

    Burdon

  • Carries special weapons, like Impaler, Rope Blaster, etc.

  • Special weapons can be acquired by the player after eliminating the character

  • AI Special weapons have limited ammo/durability.AI will eventually run out of ammo and will engage in melee attacks.

    "The Burdon" character uses a "Rope blaster"
    "Burdon" uses an "Impaler"

    Inferna


  • Torch wielding female character

  • Applies Sanity damages

    "Inferna" applies sanity damage

    Whiproot


  • Stationatry plant character

  • Hard to detect -Hides underground (invisible to player , unless approached)

  • Resurfaces on proximity and lashes out at the player when triggered.

    "Whip plants" show themselves on proximity

    Whisperer

  • Invisble character (Visible only through flashlight or torch)

  • Hides in dark forests and cries

  • Player can detect them by the sound of their whisper or crying

  • Visible only through light sources, (such as player flash light or torch)

    "Whisperers" are invisible to player . only detectable under light exposure


    Marksman


  • AI character with sniper rifle

  • Extended sight vision (Very broad and wide FOV )

  • heavy melee attack on proximity

  • doesn't leave his position unless the player approaches their proximity

    "Marksman" detects the player from long range

    The LongShots


  • Character with Rifles and high rate of fire

  • 2 Variants

  • Default Rifle attack on long range

  • Can throw spears as well (if unable to navigate or find a path to the player)

  • "long shots" mechanics showcase

    Ravagers

  • Character with Pistol and low rate of fire Weapon

  • Default pistol attack on long range

  •  If unable to navigate or find a path to the player throws spears at the player


    Some AI character can throw spears to player

    Wolf


  • Wolf character

  • Spawns at night

  • Attacks safehouse at night

  • Applies charge and jump attacks
